:: Thanksgiving 2013 ::

Thanksgiving Dinner 2013
I don't know about you, but I'm still recovering from Thanksgiving last week. Rickard and I made the 100 mile drive to my parents house and spent four days there hanging out with family and eating loads of food. I gained about 3 lbs, and my little dog gained 5 lbs (we checked weights before and after we left!). My parents really enjoy spoiling Teddy when we come to visit.

Me and my sister goofing around
Sisters by the fireplace, watching Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving

Now something that is not usual for our Thanksgiving was that this year I decided to run the local 5k Turkey Trot! I've never been in a race before and it was really a lot of fun. This may become a new Thanksgiving tradition for me and my family.

Race was at this beautiful winery in Temecula

We also did a little bit of Black Friday shopping, but honestly I preferred just eating out at restaurants instead. Rickard and I did a round of shopping at H&M before deciding to head over to Yard House for some food and a break from the crowds. Every year I seem to fall for the Black Friday frenzy, and every year, I find it totally overrated.

We also spent a day in San Diego after Thanksgiving. More pics to come from that! San Diego is really growing on me.

Etsy Gift Guide { Charming Prints and Wall Decor to Brighten a Space }

With the holidays quickly approaching, I have been thinking of ways to brighten my apartment and add a little sparkle. I have been eyeing these beautiful items on Etsy for the past couple weeks. Now that I've learned there is a $5 free Etsy credit on Wrapp.com, I might just have to make the plunge and get myself some of these pieces.

TarynStMichele: Lippy Lippy Gold Foil Print
I love this foil lip print to set on top of a vanity with my beauty products.
ElizabethMayville: hair art bun print
I can also see this print atop a vanity or hanging by the closet. I love that there's different prints with different hair colors/styles so you can pick one that looks the closest to you.
ArrowsandApricots: Gold Glitter Cheers Banner
Wouldn't this be perfect over a bar cart? I love that you can use this for the holidays or for birthday parties. It is super versatile and perfect for any event.
ThePaperShoppeCA: Home Sweet Housewarming Gold Foil Art
Sweet print by ThePaperShoppeCA and like the title says, a great gift for a housewarming.
MissPoppyDesign: Gold and Silver Foil 'Zebra'
I adore this zebra print by the talented MissPoppyDesign. I think this would be a great print to mix in with any gallery wall.

Also, while you are shopping Etsy, please be sure to check out my shop as well . We are having a Black Friday Sale with up to $5 off select designs!

Proud Dog Mama: Teddy Wins the Halloween Costume Contest!

I am not sure if it's normal to be THIS proud of your dog for winning your apartment leasing office's doggy costume contest, but I can't help myself that I am! Teddy and his pumpkin costume won the award this year and I must say there was some stiff competitions - a lot of cute pups, but my Teddy won!

Now I understand why parents brag about their children's accomplishments. My "kid" is my dog and I am the proudest dog mama ever and technically he didn't really do anything (except be cute of course!).

Love you, my Teddy Boo Boo.

New Jewelry on Nayna Jewelry plus FREE SHIPPING

This weekend our Etsy Shop hit a big milestone - we have sold over 100 hair jewelries on Etsy since we first opened our shop in June!

To celebrate, we are offering free shipping for this week with promo code: FREESHIP

I also wanted to share some new photos of our new designs. My good friend Shana modeled the new jewelry for us and did a great job!

Our "Gold Coins" is our best-seller, but now we carry it in Silver too!

Since "Gold Coins" are so popular, we have a version with smaller "coins", and a little jewel/crystal in the center. This color is slightly different too - it's more of a warm gold/rose gold tone.

Thank you for those of you have checked out and favorited our shop! 100+ sales would not be possible without you all!

:: What I Have Been Up To :: The End of Summer

I haven't done one of these posts in a while - and when I was going through my Instagram photos I realized I didn't post any Insta-photos from this summer! This is essentially a re-cap of my summer and our transition into fall:
  • Pumpkin dog: just because it's cute. ;) Everyone in our neighborhood laughs when they see Teddy in his get-up, but I swear, he likes it! He brought the costume out to Rickard to put on him! What a character.
  • We went to Mexico in August, and we are going back again in January with Rickard's family!
  • Rickard and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary and my birthday! God-willing, many more to come I hope!
  • We made sure to hit up the farmer's markets a few times - once in Oxnard and also the wonderful Calabasas Farmer's Market.
  • Nayna Jewelry: We have more designs up at the shop! Please be sure to check them out. One of my pretty best friends modeled some jewelry for me as well.
  • We have started to re-decorate our home which is super exciting! When we first moved in, we couldn't afford all the furniture we needed for our living room and some stuff is really worn out since it was purchase used. We are slowly but surely re-doing the living room!
  • Cooking: When I first got married, I couldn't cook anything except maybe make a sandwich or eggs. Since I've gotten into eating more healthy (and living more healthfully), I've started to cook more. I hope to share some healthier recipes on the blog soon!

A Spur of the Moment Purchase: Tickets to see Thirty Seconds to Mars atthe Hollywood Bowl!

Do you ever have one of those days where things just seem to be going your way? That was Saturday for us!

Rickard and I were originally planning on a relaxing day at home watching some television and him doing some homework. He told me a few weeks back about a Thirty Seconds to Mars with Panic! At the Disco concert but I had told him since we are going to see Avicii and Drake next month we probably shouldn't spend anymore money on concerts.

Well on Saturday I was randomly on StubHub and saw tickets for the same Thirty Seconds to Mars for 50% off the original price at Ticketmaster, but the concert was that same day. Well - I took that as a sign that we needed to go and purchased the tickets only three hours before we had to be at the Bowl. And I am really glad we did this spur if the moment purchase because this was probably one of my favorite shows ever. Thirty Seconds really knows how to put on a great high-energy show. Absolutely loved it!

^^^Had to share this video from the concert with audience singing along. So awesome!^^^

5 Things I'm Thankful For

I found this quote on Pinterest about a year ago, and it has really stuck with me the past year. Whenever I am feeling down or depressed, I try to focus on all the positives in my life. I also think people tend to compare themselves to others, and get caught up in thinking that the "grass is greener on the other side", but that is just so short-sighted. We each have our UNIQUE, individual stories to tell and we all have our struggles and challenges. But holding onto the negative thoughts only weighs you down. I try to let myself learn from mistakes and not dwell on negativity. "It happened, get over it." There is so much more to be thankful for in life and there is no reason to hold on to stress or things that are beyond your control.

Here are the things that I would like to thank God for today:

1. My husband - who is patient and kind with me even though I can be a crazy, emotional wreck sometimes. And his heart for being so pure and transparent.

2. My family - they are crazy, there is always drama, but they keep things interesting and are my rock.

3. Teddy - if you are in a bad mood, I guarantee that a short cuddle session with my puppy will solve all your problems.

4. A roof above my head, clean water, and food in my belly - Yep, I had to go there. It's hard to imagine that nearly 800 million people do not have access to clean water, and it is something that most of us take for granted everyday.

5. Health - I have had some minor injuries over my life, and when one body part is hurt, it is all you can think about. I am so thankful that I have my health and my family's health as well.

More Photos from Cabo {{ Fiesta Americana Resort }}

All of these photos are either on the resort we stayed or just walking distance. We stayed at The Fiesta Americana in Cabo and it was super nice. We opted out of the all-inclusive meals, since Rickard and I are the more adventurous type and prefer to try new restaurants in the city and do activities that are away from the resort. However, for Fiesta Americana, the all-inclusive deal could be worth it. The resort is about 20 minutes out of the city (but they have as shuttle that goes there every couple hours) so if you really were all about relaxation and not lifting a finger or going anywhere, this would be the place for you

It was super clean and the food fantastic. Oh, and that infinity pool. Well that's just icing on the cake. :)

First Time in Cabo San Lucas!

In front of Los Arcos
We came back from our Cabo vacation about 2 weeks ago, and we are finally feeling settled down!

I wanted to share the photos from the absolutely beautiful Los Arcos - the stunning natural rock formation that is the famous landmark of Cabo. We went around Los Arcos probably about 4 times during our short week in Cabo. And we went on 4 different boat rides as well! We did sailing, cruising, glass-bottom boats, and even parasailing so we were always on the water! Thankfully my camera held up pretty well with all these water activities!

The water is ridiculously beautiful and warm enough to swim! The crystal blue-green color and the marine-life... can't get much better than that.

I look forward to going back again in January with my husband's family!

Clean Eating: Homemade Granola - Banana Chia Seed Granola

I LOVE granola in the morning with some yogurt and fresh berries, but I usually only eat it every so often because I try to avoid all the sugar and processed ingredients found in store bought granola. That was until I found out how EASY it is to make your own granola at home. Seriously - you do not have to be a cook or even remotely good in the kitchen to make a batch of your own granola. Another perk is that homemade granola can be very healthy and a nice substitute if you have gotten into an oatmeal rut!

Now, I'm going to tell you how I made mine, but honestly, you can mix up whatever you like in this. I didn't add any sugar because as I mentioned, I try to avoid sugar in the morning. However, if you want to add a little sugar  (brown sugar would be a nice touch) or extra spices, dried fruits, or nuts that will work too!

  • 2 Cups of Old Fashioned Oats
  • 2 Tablespoon Organic Coconut Oil (or you could use Olive Oil)
  • 1/2 Cup Organic Raw Walnuts
  • 2 Small Bananas
  • 1 Tablespoon Chia Seeds
  • Generous Amount of Cinnamon
  • A Dash of Nutmeg

:: Catalina Island ::

Last weekend Rickard and I went to Catalina Island. We woke up at 6 AM to take the Catalina Flyer out of Newport Beach. As a kid, I had been to Catalina a few times, but being there with my husband made it a whole new experience. This time around it was much more romantic and relaxing. It felt like we were on our Mexico 'honeymoon' all over again instead of just an hour away from our home.

The first thing we did when we arrived was go to a candy store! :)  And then we just laid around tanning in the beach. We did a round of mini-golf and then headed to the Descanso Beach Club which I would hiiighly recommend. They were playing music on the beach and servers were taking orders for people lounging by the water! So relaxing and fun!

Laying around on the beach, looking up at the palms and sky.

What I Have Been Up To Lately {Instagram Photos}

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts, or posted for that matter. This summer is just flying by - weekdays spent at work, and weekends are just packed with plans and little adventures. There is still a lot of fun things coming up - my birthday is this month and and Rickard and I are headed to Cabo in a few weeks! I cannot wait!

Until then, here are some of the highlights from the last few months:
  • Celebrating Sophia's birthday, Gatsby-style, at The Edison in Los Angeles.
  • Running around Old Town Pasadena with Gary and Shana for a music festival.
    • And, they are getting married next year! Which means, I'm going to be a bridesmaid!
  • Nayna Jewelry: We have a few more NEW headpiece and head chain designs in the work so look out for those soon! We've also been making updates to the Big Cartel shop, and set up an additional shop on Etsy. Check it out if you have a moment and be sure to favorite us!
  • I won a Garden of Life Facebook contest for posting photos of my pedometer steps, and they sent me a bunch of their products for free! I have been trying all their powders, so I may be doing a review on my favorites in an upcoming post.
  • And finallly - 4th of July was spent at the The Standard pool party in Hollywood! Boy was that a blast!

How is your summer going so far? If you have any posts you would be interested to see from me - please be sure to leave some feedback below. I have some ideas for posts - things to do and see around LA, and some more reviews coming up!

Sunday Funday :: Malibu Wines

Can you believe that June is already here? This year is really flying by but I am so excited for this summer!

I think there is no better place to kick-off the summer than at Malibu Wines up in the Malibu canyons. We spent all of yesterday here with friends. We brought our own picnic and enjoyed good conversation. The place is a nice off-the-beaten-path destination if you are in the Los Angeles area. We love to bring friends here who have never been because they always love it. There is live music and we saw some adorable couples slow dancing. The sun was shining and the location is vineyard location is just beautiful. Can't get much better than this!
